Course Title: Resources & Tools for an NGSS Classroom - JASON for Elementary (Grades 3-5)
Course ID: 1925300470

Scientific literacy is important too! For the first time, we are now offering a professional learning experience strictly for elementary educators. This workshop will specifically address strategies and resources for integrating Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) into the school-day while connecting to reading, writing, and math literacy. We will discuss and address the challenges that face elementary teachers when it comes to including time for science instruction, and offer concrete resources and methods that can be easily incorporated into already existing routines. Participants will further their understanding of what it means to teach and learn in three dimensions. Although strategies can be applied across all areas of science, most of the featured lessons will be drawn from the following collections:

  • Recycling Activities Collection
  • Immersion Learning
  • This session will include time for participants to identify resources specifically applicable to them in their settings and network with a community of peers to applied strategies explored through the day.

JASON Learning is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and educating students everywhere through real science and exploration.
