Using the Design Process to Address STEM Topics

Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Snow Date: Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Description Engineers' initial ideas rarely solve a problem. Instead they try different ideas, learn from their mistakes, and then try again. The steps engineers and inventors use to arrive at a solution are called the design process. The design process helps people think creatively about a problem and produce a successful result.

Objectives As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will:
  • Work through a variety of challenges using the design process.
  • Learn how to help students think creatively and strengthen their critical thinking skills.
  • See what the design process looks like in the classroom, and learn a variety of implementation strategies.
