Description By observing the world around them, students will address the age old question, "why does the moon appear to change shape?" In this workshop, participants will practice new lessons which will explore day and night and moon phases. These concepts will be explored using outdoor observations, active simulations, and other hands-on inquiry based lessons aligned with CT Science Standard 5.3.
 
Objectives As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will:
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of CT Science Standard 5.3 earth in the solar system.
  • Explore new classroom activities which reinforce the understanding of moon phases.
  • Receive lessons which can be implemented in the classroom using low-cost and easily obtained materials.
