Predator/Prey Relationships

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Description Within every ecosystem there are intricate predator/prey relationships that determine the transfer of energy within that particular system. Examining specific predator/prey models, participants will develop an understanding how populations fluctuate depending upon specific variables including mortality, emigration, immigration, birth rate and carrying capacity. Aligned to CT Science Standard 6.2.

Objectives As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will:
  • Apply the concept of carrying capacity to predator/prey relationships.
  • Identify specific predator/prey relationships.
  • Measure the effect of predator/prey interaction on the ecosystem as a whole.
