Description The Reading Comprehension Assessment Consortium will meet 5 times (3 full days and 2 half days) over the course of the school year 2010-2011 to study, evaluate and create questions for CMT aligned reading comprehension assessments. Members* of the Reading Comprehension Assessment Consortium are working on creating formative reading assessments for grades 3-8 aligned to the science and social studies GLEs. These assessments are intended to be integrated into content units of study and to be used by classroom teachers as part of their on-going formative classroom assessment of reading. Those involved in this project will receive two complete grade level assessments with each article at three readability levels: below grade level, at grade level and above grade level. *You do not need to have prior membership in the consortium in order to participate.

Objectives As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will:
  • Learn how to create valide and reliable open-ended questions that are aligned with CMT4 objectives.
  • Learn how to create scoring guides for developed assessments.
  • Learn how to differentiate articles by changing readability levels.
