ECO: Early Childhood Outcomes Professional Development

Description The reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) requires state to measure and report on the developmental and functional progress of children who are receiving special education in the preschool grade. This federal requirement is called the Early Childhood Outcome (ECO) requirements. Connecticut uses the Brigance IED-II to collect child specific pre-test and post-test information to report on the ECO requirement. (Lunch is included).
 
Objectives As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will:
  • Understand the ECO and IDEA requirements, the State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report, and measuring progress and public reporting.
  • Become familiar with the assessment instrument (Brigance IED-II criterion-referenced assessment.
  • Become familiar with the data required for reporting and with the web-based reporting procedure.
